ABOUT ME

Self-taught artist creating paintings with a purpose to give all proceeds to charity

Born and brought up in New Delhi, India, I currently reside and paint in Mclean VA which is home. Life is full with a beautiful family (a beautiful and loving wife, teenage son and daughter, and our precious Cockapoo, Leo), and all the joys, chores and experiences that come with it.

My journey in art began at a young age when along with the usual focus on all things science and math, I was fascinated by my painting classes in elementary and middle schools. Mostly, my work was confined to watercolors and participating in class projects and going for the occasional interschool painting competitions. One highlight to remember was when I got to participate in an event where a select few students met and painted portraits of the world famous Indian painter M.F. Hussain. That, combined with being selected for a special award in the prestigious 'shankars on the spot' painting competition for kids, are memories that had a lasting impact.

Now, I have a full time career as an executive in a consulting firm. At the same time, Art has gained a renewed passion and calling for me in the recent years. All my free time - I think, learn about, and paint. It is a joy that keeps giving and a journey that seems as joyful if not more as the end products itself.

In terms of my painting style, I am attracted to a blend of 'impressionism' and 'minimalism'. The ability to evoke a sentiment, a feeling, a mood or essence of a place visited - through a combination of colors and brush strokes - is a magical feeling. I believe I am a lifelong student of that technique and attempt to get better with every painting and every day.

I decided to start 'Art for Good' to combine my passion for painting with giving back and helping others.  All proceeds from the sales of my art go to charitable causes. You buy a painting, and not only do you get an original piece of art, signed and authenticated - you also get a receipt to show the proceeds going to a charitable cause of your choosing.
